Holy smokes, I haven't laughed this hard in awhile:

Okay, this Black Sheep song has been a big hit in the world of Jessica-workouts, but it's only been in the last couple months that I actually listened to the words. "you could go with this, or you could get with that, you can get with this or you can get with that, you can get with this, or you can get with that, I think you'll go with this, 'cause this is where it's at/kinda phat"
Simple, and to the point. Here it is, there is that. Make up your mind. There. Anyway, I fucking love this song. I hope you like...
Okay. So the other day I was reading FreeThought.net (via One Good Move) and they linked to this BBC series on disbelief, sort of a documentary on atheism and one man's a-spiritual journey. It's a three hour deal, and I've only watched the first one, but throughout I have been able to relate to him and his conflicted feelings about faith and superstition.
The other thing that struck me was the time given to all the horrific things that happen in the name of religion, and when viewed under that lens it is particularly barbaric and dangerous.
The thing is? I keep meeting really awesome people who are Christians, and who totally, wholly believe. Until a few months ago, I really only saw the creepy church lady hypocritical hate mongers a la Fred Phelps (I did grow up in Kansas). So it was really easy for me to scoff at the whole affair. Obviously these people were stupid, irrational, meanspirited sheep. But now, suddenly, I know Christians who are smart, rational, caring, funny, pierced/tattooed, in a word, normal awesome people, who happen to really, really believe, and feel touched by Jesus every day of their lives. It's been a real eye opener for me, and while I don't think I'll ever have Faith, I kind of wish that I did. It seems comforting.
I'm wondering if there isn't some sort of genetic component to Faith. I mean, one of the big questions people pose to atheists is this: if there isn't a god, why have so many people, for thousands of years, believed in one (or more)? Well, natural selection could have played a part.
Umm, yeah. Nice try. This is pure time-suckage and I need to get studying. I don't know why I thought having a TV would hurt my studying, it's the fucking internet that's doing me in!
Mmmm, this is so tasty. So is my coffee. Good Morning! :)
